7 years is a long time but 6.5 isn't the worse for a cap number I guess

At least we get a 4th rounder now

This also shapes the market for Shattenkirk to, for any team looking to trade and extend him

No question. Wonder if that increases the likelihood that St Louis moves him by Friday's draft.

I think they will, especially with the rumors that teams are hot on his trail

So do you guys think there is any way the Rangers trade back into the first round tomorrow night?

I don't think they are going to have to protect Skjei. I think he'll be exempt. I have to find the expansion Draft rules again.

As for Yandle I can honestly say I'm not sad to see him go. For that price and term (with nmc) he's just too high risk, medium reward. If we hadn't included duclair in that deal I don't think people would be as upset as they are.

If we would have traded him at the deadline last year I think we would all be happy as hell right now

DJ LANCE must be smiling wherever he is, won't be around here for awhile after his ban yesterday.

I don't know if I did this right but here's the expansion Draft rules.

I think the tricky part for the Rangers is going to be having two forwards under contract and one defense under contract who played the requisite games. Klein will probably be the d man. Forwards = no idea. Hayes may get a 2 year deal.

Maybe yes, maybe no. "He's either dead...or alive...or the Cops got him...or they don't."

Shattenkirk will be a Ranger, he wants to be here, it may be via free agency though, Rangers need to smart this offseason, so far they are

Everytime I see his name I just get an image of William Shatner as Capt. Kirk. Hopefully this will pass in time.

Florida also has a very solid two way RIGHT HANDED defenseman to play with Yandle and that's Aaron Ekblad.

One of the biggest problems with the Rangers and Yandle is that he played the same side as McDonagh and they just never were going to be a pairing, no matter how many times somebody tweeted "just move McDonagh to the right side"

it's a smart move for Florida, it just didn't work for the Rangers

I agree but what's done is done. Gorton is going to have his work cut out for him but I think he will somehow get it done.

I think he looks a lot like Jay Mohr

Either Girardi or Stall will be moved if they don't bounce back or maybe we deal Nash and leave some of that money available

I will make this criticism about dealing Yandle to Florida, didn't Sather not trade Talbot to Florida for what would have been a better return than Edmonton cause he didn't want him in in the same Conference? Maybe he should have
